However, the offering should be made with devotion because Śrī Krishna does not need food, as everything already belongs to Him. Yet, He accepts food offered by His devotees because of the devotion behind the offering.

Devotion is very important when offering anything to the Lord, as it is the sincerity behind the offering that pleases Him. A well-known story describes how, when Lord Krishna visited Vidura’s house, Vidura’s wife, overwhelmed with devotion, mistakenly offered Him banana peels instead of the fruit. Krishna happily ate the peels because they were offered with genuine devotion. In contrast, He refused Duryodhana’s lavish feast because it was offered without sincere devotion.

Can We Offer Bhoga to Krishna Without Tulsi?

No, without Tulsi leaves, we should not offer bhoga to Shri Krishna. At present, we do not have pure love for the Lord. Love for God is a very advanced stage of bhakti, so we should not assume that we have reached that stage and offer bhoga to Krishna on that basis. Therefore, devotees traditionally place a Tulsi leaf on Krishna’s bhoga before offering it to Him. Offering Tulsi leaves helps us approach the Lord with the proper devotional mood.
